4 Weeks to go - Training Update

6/3/2011

Only 4 weeks to go now.....
Thanks for all the support and donations (£1800 so far) - that's amazing and every contribution is very much appreciated.
Been walking up the 11 floors of stairs 15/16 times during lunchtimes at work with 30kg backpack and ankle weights too. Usual cycling and weights sessions as well. 26k walk in Richmond Park with 30kg pack and big clunky yellow mountain boots... got some weird looks!
Also sleeping in hypoxic tent for the next month. Currently sleeping at 2200m.
Rest day today. Back on the bike tomorrow, kettlebell training during lunch.
Weighing myself tomorrow - hopefully I've put on some weight!

Cycled 4 days during the week, gym a few times, kettlebell session, a few weights sessions.....

Went out hiking for 5 hours today with Cheryl, in the rain and in my boots. Packed the backpack with weights, bottles of water, 1/2 sack of rice and a 1.5 litre bottle of Jack Daniels!!!! ..and then did a weights and stretching session afterwards.

Tomorrow, 100 miles on the bike - early start.

Had a great but tiring weekend up in Scotland. Good to get the boots, crampons and ice axe out and get on some snow and rock. Did some technical climbing up into the mountains, getting used again to trusting the two front points on my crampons on steep rock and snow and moving in fierce winds and snowdrift. Only tripped a few times - better be more careful up on Everest!!!!

Met some of my Everest 2011 teammates. Seems like we'll get on really well and have a good laugh up on the mountain.

Got back at 1am last night, cycled to work in the morning, did a kettlebell training session at the gym during lunch and then cycled back home after work. No more training tonight!

Off now to Scotland for a weekend of ice climbing in the Glencoe/Ben Nevis area. Crampons, ice axes, big yellow boots and winter clothing all packed up and ready to go.

Temperatures have dropped and apparently its going to snow....it's going to be a cold/ tiring weekend. Saturday 7.30 am start with a 6pm finish. Then another 6 hours climbing  on Sunday.

Thanks to you all for the interest so far.

Cycled to work and back, came home and did weights then worked on the website and sponsorship.

Spoke to my sport nutritionist (a friend who's just started a course in the subject!) and we both came to the conclusion that I need to eat more!

Facebook, Justgiving and website are all now live!!!!!!!!!  Exciting!
